My daughters cobalt has the pioneer premium sound system w 285w amp and it is superior to the HHR premium sound system
it has 6.5's in front door
tweeters on the pillars
6x9s on back
10 in sub in rear

the only downside is her head unit only has a 2 way mixer on it.
it is really good.

our equinox has a better sound system in it. it has the same as the cobalt cept it has 2 6.5 speakers in the door instead of 6x9

hhr premium system is ok but it lacks alot.

well just finished ordering stuff for my next upgrade. Cost me $130 including shipping. Finally I can get some real output from my stock radio and my audiobahn speakers! Hope to get these installed sometime next week.

I installed her XM Radio in the Cobalt this weekend. Even using the FM modulator built in, it has a GREAT sound. The sound is very much better than my HHR. I agree that the rear is using the trunk to resonate, but I can actually feel the front speakers vibrating my leg on the bass when I fade out the rear speakers, so there is a definate difference. I have looked all around, and can not find the wattage on the radios. Does anyone know where I can look?

PNOY...eventually you're going to have to replace the OEM stereo...

its not for my sub. I already have a separate sub for my amp. I'm using this to run my door speakers.

NG,

I'm trying to hold off on getting a new HU for as long as I can. I want to blow up the factory HU first...lol.

Personally, I think the stock radio is not loud at all. I have the 1 disc with mp3 capabilities in my 1LT. I find that most of the time it's at maximum volume.
