HHR Sub Install
HHR Sub Install
I have the pioneer premium system. I wanted to know will this speaker fit in the stock sub spot?http://www.crutchfield.com/p_20609S8...5brank6%5d8%22 Im new to this
I believe that sub is too deep for the stock sub placement, you would need a shallow mount 8" sub like this one, http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...2-10CVT82.html
This thread will help too. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/audio-video-17/subwoofer-depth-measurement-39003/

Its only an 8 inch and its a shallow mount so its not gonna be a hard hitting sub. I haven't heard of any amps that fit in the stock space other than the stock one. If you want a lot of bass you're best off not getting a sub and amp to fit in the stock place. If you only want to have a little then im sure that sub I showed would be fine or maybe even the stock one. I don't know how good the stock subs are, you would have to ask someone that has had one because i do not, the only subs ive ever owned are 2 15 inch kicker solo classics.
Most 8" and some 10" (with cutting) speakers under 4 7/8" top mount depth can fit with the factory box with the addition of a spacer. Your interior panel will have to be allowed to be pushed out just a tad but it is not really noticable except when removing/installing the cargo shelf in the lower position. I had a Rockford Fosgat R1D4 10" sub in mine for a bit. You just need to keep the magnet on the narrow side and be sure that the sub can play in a box that is between .55 and .60 as that seems to be what this box provides. Depth wise that Solo Classic can fit but the air space will be on the large size. Depending on the range this may not be a problem and will actually let this sub play lower then the .35 cft box would that Kicker recommends.
As for the amp location it is too small for most amps but the new Rockford BPR300x1 is 6"x4"xunder 2" and would fit there. I have never use this amp so I do not know anything but it's size and ratings. It's 2 ohm rating is only 150 watts but they are making a 500x1 version that is only 2" longer and makes 300 @ 2ohms. The 300x1 benched @ 175w @ 2ohms and I would hope the 500 would do the same for it's 2 ohm output. Most people put their amps in the tray above the spare tire thogh so you can look at other amps that might work better for you. I am using the cargo bins location for my amp(s) and building a 1 cft box in the factory location.
