Unhappy HHR Tweeters work intermittent doors

Hello all! I have searched here and also tried my "Google Fu". I have a 2010 HHR, factory radio. 5 speaker. Not Pioneer. Tweeters always work. Doors come and go. Getting worse. Cones are whole, and move freely. No voice coil bind. Some people said to reseat fuses, and relays. Didnt make sense but I tried it. Same thing. Finally figured a bum radio. Put in a new one. Same thing. Jiggled wires, and harnesses. No good. Installed a Crutchfield radio and adapter harness. Chime works. Radio works. Speakers are still hogwash. Looking at the wiring diagram the speakers are wired in parallel. Tweeters are connected to front speakers. Rear are on their own. I am lost on this one. Dont have a spare speaker to hook up to test the current ones. The intermittent thing is killing me. Worst kind of problem to have/trace. I am open to suggestions......

You need new speakers. Fairly common problem, water intrusion.

Water gets into the door cavity, then turns to vapor on hot days then vapor gets into the coils then corrosion sets in.

BTW, my count is 6 speakers. 7 if you had Pioneer. No 5.

Whoops! Yes,6. I was thinking 4 door, and counted the tweeters as 1. hehehehhe. Age setting in. Yes, what you said is what I have been reading. Just weird that they are doing it intermittently. The moisture thing makes sense. Just wouldn't think it would work/not work. Used to have all kinds of loose speakers laying around that I could test it with. Starting to sound like that is it though. In for a penny in for a pound I guess!

I had the same issue. Not sure why they stopped working, but I guess it could be moisture. Maybe just junk OE. I replaced my speakers and that fixed my issue, but you should check to make sure it is the speaker and not the radio.

See my post in this thread. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/prob...s-60502/page2/ (post #14)

Good luck!!
