iPhone 3Gs not compatible...?
iPhone 3Gs not compatible...?
My original iPhone (non-3G model) worked perfectly with the factory radio in my '09 SS. It could be charged via the USB connection; the radio could control the iPod features, and the phone could be paired with the radio via Bluetooth.
With the iPhone 3Gs, nothing works (except when using the AUX input). The 3Gs is apparently an unsupported/incompatible device; the factory radio cannot connect to it via USB or Bluetooth.
Any further information on this issue?

I don't think the radios can be flashed, but the Apple devices can be.
My car also had the landline-side squelch/buzzing with the old phone. I'd hope with the new one, that issue would go away, but of course I haven't been able to test it yet.
My guess is that if a fix happens, it will come from Apple and not GM. I'm sure Apple has their hands full right now and getting the 3Gs to work with GM radios is not on their priority list...

I know diddly squat about the I-phone and nor am I a fan, but here's my 2 cents:
It's got nothing to do with 3G or not but whether the Phone's BT stack is working properly. So if the question is BT pairing, you would think that even with newer devices such as the 3G I phone , it's BT stack (2.0, 2.1?) should be backward compatible with the HU's BT stack.
As to the USB issue maybe could it be that the newer phone is using a HighCapacity USB driver (8GB and higher)and the HU is only capable of reading the older generation USB memory devices (4GB or less)

As a purchaser of 5 Apple products, I stand by my statement.
