Did you have to shim the sub in the box? Does it hit the stock grille or trim panel?

No need to shim the sub box for the shallow mount kicker. It does not hit the grill or anything because the stock sub had a 1/2 lip on the front with an extra grill behind the panel grill. The only thing I had to do was drill new holes because the stock holes did not line up...you also should get different screws, the stock screw heads won't fit in the holes for the kicker sub. The screws are the right size, just the heads are too big. You really do need to put the poly fill in though. The stock box volume is only a little over .3 cubic feet and the kicker requires .5...the polyfill makes it act like it is over .5 cubic feet. The difference after the poly fill is enourmous and this thing puts out more and lower bass than I will ever want.
