New owner with audio questions

Hi
I just purchased a 2008 HHR SS.
I have a 2008 owners manual.
My question is can you connect a cell phone (Iphone) to the stereo for hands free operation?
Is there something I can add to the stereo that would give me this capability?
Any info would be appreaciated.

to the forums!

The HHR is equipped with Bluetooth for phone calls only.

To play music from your phone, you can attach a cable(aux or USB, if equipped), but it won't be hands free, unless it's a playlist type of thing.

I'm not sure the 2008 SS has BT. Do you have the "answer phone " button on the steering wheel? If it does press and hold it for 2 seconds the radio will respond "ready", the you say "bluetooth" the radio responds "bluetooth ready" then you say "pair". . If it gives further instructions follow them.

The first year to include BT instructions was 2009. It is part of the OnStar module, OnStar does not need to be activated but not disabled (pulling fuse , disconnected etc).

Thank you for the advise.

I tried this several times and it went into OnStar. When I said bluetooth is said goodbye.

How about checking the 2008 owners manual, see if it does have Bluetooth, I don’t think the 08 does

I did check, that's how I knew to say 2009 is the first mention of BT. It was not available in 2008.

I think it was only available if the OnStar has the GPS, at least that is the only indication of an RPO for BT I could find.
