Peripheral iSimple PXAMG/PGHGM2 GM iPod Adapter

I have a question before I order this iPod interface. I have an 2009 LS that came with an OEM radio with Onstar, XM, an Aux plug on front of headunit and NO USB connector plug. I want to be able to control my ipod Classic with the OEM radio controls. Is this the item I need to do this for this radio?

I will let everyone know if I do this mod and get it to work but I won't be trying this unless I can find someone that knows if this is the part I need to do the job. These cars are so finicky about stuff you do to them that I don't want to spend the money on something that may not work.
