pioneer 5800 install experts in here please

OK, I've got the stock HU out and getting ready to install the 5800. I also bought the gizmo that will let me use my steering wheel controls.

I want to use the factory speaker wires (at least until I determine if I am going to put in an amp)

I also would like to keep the radio on until the door opens feature.

I've read as many threads here as I could find, but still can't determine how EXACTLyY to wire this all together.

Laptop sitting next to me at the car hoping for some friendly help.

Here's some wiring info you can use (info found from other postings):

[Harness 1]
Battery(+) = [RED/WHITE]
Ground(-) = [BLACK/WHITE]
Left Front Speaker = [DARK-GREEN(-)] [TAN(+)]
Right Front Speaker = [LIGHT-GREEN(-)] [LIGHT-GREEN/WHITE(+)]

--------

[Harness 2]
Left Rear Speaker = [BROWN(-)] [BROWN/WHITE(+)]
Right Rear Speaker = [TAN(-)] [DARK-BLUE(+)]

You have to tap the ACC wire either in the fuse box or somewhere else. You can also grab accessory at the ignition harness.

cool, thanks, any idea about how to route a wire to the fuse box???

i'd much rather stay inside the dash if possible, i thought for sure the cigarette lighter would have been switched....but, nope it is hot all the time

i think all i need is a switched +12v to finish this up and grab a beer

well, it's in.................sort of...................i fished a wire to the fuse box and found switched +12, but the radio goes off as soon as i turn off the key

the steering wheel controls don't work, but i think that is because i haven't programmed them yet...................my brain hurts too much to get into that right now........................

AND

at first listen, i believe that i'm gonna have to amp everything in order to get the sound i want..............

so/ i'll be riping it back apart...............

time to go for a cruise down to the local watering hole and see, errrrrrr listen to how it sounds ,

BEER THIRTY

If you want the radio to stay on until the door is open then you have to tap into fuse #21 on the center console. That's what I used, with an add-a-fuse, and it works great. I have my head unit, Sirius satellite receiver, and PAC steering wheel adapter all hooked up to fuse #21. Everything stays on until I remove the key and open the drivers side door.

follow the red wire leading to a black connector (look at the left of the pic). That's fuse #21 connected via add-a-circuit fuse holder.

The add-a-circuit looks like this:

You can get it at a local car parts store like pep boys or autozone.
