Pioneer AVIC XX and HHr Question

I have an AVIC D3 that I am going install into my new SS. My question is this?

With the AVIC installed and you turn on your headlamps does it dim the AVIC display? I have an avalanche with it now and it does not dimm the screen and makes it very difficult to drive at night.

Thanks
JV

I'm not sure on that model avic, i have the avic z1 and the display doesn't automatically dim for me by the headlights being on or off. with that said i do have a small toggle switch (which was installed along with my head unit) that will switch the units display from day to night mode but that wasn't the switches primary purpose which is to bypass the units security feature of not displaying video while in motion.

Hmmmmm
Thanks

PS The D3 has a pin that you move from one position to another on the connector and it works while driving. avic411.com is a great resource and has the photos how to make it work

Do you have to change anything in the D3 menu?

D3 does dim if you connect the red/white illumination wire, and red/black dimmer wire. Also, it can be controlled manually in the menu, it's called "night mode".

Have fun getting the VSS signal. You have to get the signal from the drivers front wheelspeed sensor in the fenderliner.

Actually the wire harness kit I used, Axess, has a lead wire connected to it so it is part of the harness. You have to make sure that you get the NEWEST GMLANOS-04. There are two versions floating around.
