Question regarding car horn

So I've been thinking of upgrading my horn. Nothing crazy like the ahooga horn, but just a beefier step up from the not so intimidating stock horn. I don't plan on paying much, I'm literally going to pull a horn out of a larger car or truck from a junkyard. My only question is does anyone know if they are plug and play or if I'll need to do some cutting and snipping? If need be I can stick a GM I pull the horn from. Just want to know what I'm getting into before I hit the junkyard monday. Thanks!

Here's a horn upgrading thread that shows how to do it, there's a bit of cutting and snipping involved.

And here's another horn upgrade thread....

The stock horn is kinda dinky, but you should have heard the stock "peep peep" horn on my wife's Fiat, sounded like a field mouse with gas.

I put in a Wolo Bad Boy (forget exact model) but it bolted right in. I did have to add a spade connector to the existing wire which was easy to do. I had to put in a higher amp fuse as the Wolo draws more current then the stock horn. It sound like the horn we had on our 87 Porsche Turbo years ago.

I appreciate the replies. I do know where the how-to threads are for installing horns. I was just wondering if anyone swapped it for another GM horn and knew if it was a direct swap or not.

I've added set of 1988 Caddy Horns on mine. (matched set of 3)..

Older horns ground by body, our oem horn & newer has ground wire in the connector. So just some minor wire mods, & creative mounting..

Did have to bump my stock 10 amp fuse to a 15 amp.. I wouldn't go bigger on the fuse than 15amp, as the horn relay is 20 amp, & you want the horn fuse to be the first thing to blow should that situation arise..

PS: If you get bone yard horns, be sure & get the horn connectors & a fair bit of wire...
