Quick vid of my carputer in action...
Excuse my late entry on this thread.
Some questions to consider:
1.) Does the carputer take a long time to boot up like a normal XP solution?
I ask because I am curious that say, you drive, stop,
& then go into a quick shop and get a soda, how long
before you hear music again after a complete engine
shutoff to hearing your music again.
2.) Is heat a factor? It seems that car heat builds up so fast during
a parking lot stop of even only say a half hour.
3.) I have seen laptops now for around $700 bucks.
Would't that work just as well? I know no touch screen, but
a wireless mouse could work?
I can see where a carputer would be a very nice option, and I wanna add it.

1) I have the computer set up to go into hibernate when the car is shut off- when I start the car, instead of going through a complete boot sequence, it boots from hibernate, which takes around ~10 seconds.
2) Heat hasn't been a problem at all. The actual CPU and all of the components are located in the factory spare tire location. I have a rather large CPU fan and a ton of space for cooling. I've driven the car for 3-4 hours non-stop and haven't had a problem thus far.
3) Laptop really wasn't an option for me. I wanted something that would retain the OEM look. Wireless mouse would just be a hassle to use while driving, too.
Any other questions feel free to ask :)

Tell me more about your hibernate settings... Maybe screen shots, still just a little confused on a few details. For instance, does it hibernate when you turn off the ignition key switch? How does it know to sleep? How does it know when to wake? Sorry, I'm not an idiot, I just wanna see how this is done in your set up.
Also, I was really asking how well does the 'puter handle the heat build up of the car on a normal hot sunny day? I kinda figured the A/C would offer relief to the unit as well as the human. But car interiors can exceed 170 degrees pretty fats and that is murder on the hardware right?
And does the large fan make a ton of noise or can it not be heard thru the floor boards in the back? Seems like you could hear it up front during a lull in music or whatever...
Hey, really thx for the help.
I am getting excited about putting one of these in my HHR!!!!!!
