Radio controls on steering wheel

Has anyone added the controls to their steering wheel? I have the three gm part numbers for the changeover. Is it necessary to remove one battery cable for a safe install? The 3 parts cost about 75 dollars.
Thanks

I ordered the parts the people never returned my call would like to know the parts # for 09 ILT Am thing GMparts might be a good place to get them. From my understanding you don't need to take battery cable off

When you disconnect the battery wait a minimum of five minutes before doing anything, there is still current stored in the system even with the battery disconnected. Waiting for five minutes allows the stored voltage to decay, I like to wait ten minutes just to be sure, an airbag to the head at close range can seriously injure or kill you.

Am trying to get the correct numbers for my 09HHR 1LT so far I have these numbers: Switch #25862239 Cover #25812392 Harness # 25816515 cost 76.24 at GMPartsDirect.com Seems like everyone wants to go by the Vin number since my car came without this option Vin # wouldn't do much good. I need the silver cover and have looked through 67 pages on here looking for the correct numbers. Can anyone verify these are the correct numbers? Thanks sorry for high jacking.

$76 sounds like a lot of money. You might want to check a scrapyard and buy the whole leather steering wheel with the audio controls. Its far more comfortable to drive with IMO.
You should be able to find one, as many gm cars have the same wheel. Beware though that Pontiac wheels have red lighting in the switches.

You should still check the wire colors on the connectors, and be prepared to do some changing of wires in the connecter.
