Radio fitment
All.
A brand new, never used radio does not need it. Some used radios have had the chip disabled so they don't need it. If you know what you are doing you can reprogram the chip in the radio or remove it.
The security works by the BCM interrogates the chip, if it is blank the BCM inserts the VIN if it does not match the radio is disabled. If there is bno chip the radio will function.

I do have an intermittent problem with a very loud pop coming from the speakers if the radio is left on the on position, but that's not the reason for my post.
I'd like to have the CD player working again.
