Radio fitment

Is a stock radio from any year HHR a direct swap into a 2006 HHR?

Physically, yes. But computer matching needs to be done, that takes a bit of know how and the correct computer.

Thanks for the quick replies.
Are they all computer matched, or just certain years?

All.
A brand new, never used radio does not need it. Some used radios have had the chip disabled so they don't need it. If you know what you are doing you can reprogram the chip in the radio or remove it.
The security works by the BCM interrogates the chip, if it is blank the BCM inserts the VIN if it does not match the radio is disabled. If there is bno chip the radio will function.

Just wanted to confirm why you think it’s the radio head unit , the door speakers are known to fail

If you are trying to add BlueTooth the answer is no. Bluetooth lives in the OnStar Module.

I never said it was the head unit. The CD player quit working.
I do have an intermittent problem with a very loud pop coming from the speakers if the radio is left on the on position, but that's not the reason for my post.
I'd like to have the CD player working again.

I didn’t see anything about the problem, the pop noise tells me the speakers are faulty.
as for the cd player it it usually the drive belt has broken.
