Dude! You should get one of those remote control dub cars..I think they have a sealed ported box with tight bass installed already..

Ported can sound just as good as sealed in the right alignment...in fact, ported can actually have a better response over the bandwidth then sealed

If you're looking at pre-fab boxes, though, sealed is probably the way to go. Most pre-fab ported boxes are tuned over 40hz and don't sound all that great in a daily setup.

My audiobahn (dual 10's above), is tuned to 50hz, and with a 6db/octave slope and +1 or 2 db at 63hz it sounds very nice on jazz and alt rock stuff. It will in no way impress someone looking for "bump" though.

I'm SUPER happy with it's performance in my HHR - but then my head unit (Pioneer 8600), offers lots of flexibility in setting up subs.

Go figure.

Well you've got a 4th order bandpass system...you get much better transience around your passband- ported boxes tend to peak about an octave above tuning, and hit the floor an octave below. If you have a traditional ported box tuned to 40hz or so, you're going to peak around 50hz, and bottom out at around 30- the transient response is going to look like a hill/valley line.

All I know is I am VERY happy with that little Audiobahn system (an donly running 300-watts to it).
I HEARTILY recommend it to any HHR owner looking to add big bass without breaking the bank or losing all your trunk space.

I too recommend that you run a much smaller box if cargo space is an issue, although i wouldn't make any decisions until you know what subs you're going to run because different subs have have different internal volume specs (depending on if the box is sealed or ported. The setup socal is running is nice but i personally like to announce my presence before i arrive. Here are updated pics of my box.
