Shaggys JL Audio Instal

well all is in now cept the front crossovers which are going in after i take a short rest and the amps. 8 speakers in and only the sub left and should have it in by tomorrow.

I had a 14" tall, 15 wide and 24" long rectangular darak grey carpeted sub enclosure made to fit up against the wall where the 8" was. i am putting in the 12W3 JL Sub in there. it will face the passenger wall and back against the drivers wall.

I will post pics tomorrow or when i get done. I have never done this before so with the help of Jaydogg advice on equipment and helping me install it and me doing it myself I hope all goes well. he is on aol messenger helping me as i post questions.

here are pics of where i put the tweeters in the back seat doors and they swivel. sounds good even w/o the 300/2 running them.

more pics to come

Interesting tweeter placement. So you have 4 of them counting the ones on the front pillars. 4 door speakers + 4 tweeters. Looking forward to seeing the completed install CJ. Should be informative.

i told him to go with comps front and rear. i like how clean the crossovers make things. and with 150 watts rms per door with 300 watts rms to the sub it will be pretty loud, clean, and very well rounded in the sound quality. if he wanted boomy, set of alarms bass, this wasnt the way to go, a 500/1 and a 12w6 in a ported box or a 1000/1 with 2 15w3's, but for the perfect balance sound stage this is it.

Very interesting, never seen anyone put tweeters in the rear doors. I can imagine how clear the sound will be with 4 tweeters providing the high's. Learn something new every day, although comps all the way around is out of my budget.

im my sentra i had alpine type r comps all the way around with only 65 watts rms to them, it sounded great. i have built some serious stereos, at the shop i used to work at this one that cj is building was one of my favs for a well rounded stereo. The loudest one it built went like this......

2 sets of jl 6.5 comps, like cj has, in the front 1 set in doors, 1 in kick panels
2 sets of jl 6.5 comps, like cj has, in rear deck
2 jl 15w3's in custom spare tire fiberglass box
4 300/2, 1 per set of comps
1 jl 1000/1 for 15w3's
kenwood double din touch screen dvd/monitor
2 6" tvs in visors
2 7" tvs in headrest
1 15" flip down tv
2 yellow tops in trunk
1 yellow top under hood
250 sq ft of dynomat
ps2
VCR
tons of wire, none of which was smaller than 12 awg

price tag for this 25 grand
all in a 99 acura 3.2tl

i spent 2 weeks working on it. and 2 grand out of the 25 went in my pocket tuning took a day to get things right.

that wasnt mine, but on the shop meter it hit 153 db. Mine isnt anywhere close to that, right now, but if i could stand the rattles i might be able to get close to the 140's. dynomat would definately put me there. Our shop celica hit 159db off 12 12's and about 6000 watts rms before blowing the windows out.
