Someone please shoot me.

Someone put me out my misery. I just picked up my rig and had a new system installed and I know I read here that the blinker and seatbelt chime play through the system, but mine are so loud its deafening. What the hell is the quick fix? Fuse? Relay? Wire? Someone help. AHHHHHHH.

It's my understanding that when they are direct wired that you lose that stuff. You suppose the people who installed it hooked it up somehow?

You might look for CH...he's around alot of the time. Good luck man...that sure would annoy the snot outta me.

All you have to do is turn down the gain on your Amp. To compensate you will have to turn up the head unit while listening. Easy fix.

that is the fix i had to do as well.

you have to play with the gain on the amp to get the happy medium you want for the sound and volume you are looking for out of your system. mine was just barely over 50% on each of the 3 amps and i have more than enough volume.

Shoot me too, while you're at it. I'm having the same issues and it's not looking good. The shop that wired it up has no idea what's going on and to top it off, they really did some funky things with the wiring. I'm in the process of trying to get some labor costs recovered, so I can take it to another shop with better experience with the HHR and this set up. The new shop has told me that they'll have to completely re-wire it and I'll probably be looking at replacing the head unit, as well. I was trying to avoid it, but I'd rather have a new head unit which should eliminate the fact that people 10 cars back can hear when I'm trying to turn left (all chimes and signals are now amplified through the amp and speakers).

if the wiring is done right then all you have to do is the the gains right

you can go and disconnect that wire if you are not using OnStar and the OnStar as your phone

this was a message sent to me to disconnect the noise from the speakers from Mike at Socal

Hi CJ! It's either the dark green or dark green/white stripe, depending on whether your HHR is early or late production. Either way, it's the green wire on pin #9 of the radio plug. This wire also carries the low-speed GM LAN data, so I'm not sure if it will affect your OnStar or not?

You could try cutting it, but if On-Star won't work you'll have to re-connect it (butt connector). The phone uses two other wires so it shouldn't be affected at all.

I'm SO GLAD that I have the turn signal clicker disconnected now, it was pesky!

*BTW - you'll have to make sure you turn off your lights (if you do'nt use "auto lights"), as the lights on buzzer wont' be sounding either.

Good luck with it!
Mike

Well, I just got everything straightened out with my system. I took it back to the original shop and the owner took the reigns. He checked out all the wiring and realized that the amp that I had him put in had some issues. Because of that, I was getting feedback out of the tweeters and sound spikes caused the backs to blow out. He swapped out the backs, strengthened the speaker connections all around and re-wired a new amp.

To take care of the chimes/turn signals coming through all speakers amplified (it was deafening), he ran the speakers through a converter bypassing the front channel to the amp. The chimes weren't disengaged, they just get bypassed to the rear channel, so you don't hear them. GPER, you may want to try setting your system up like that. It's working for me. Oh, btw, I still have the factory head unit, so it is possible to bypass those sounds without having to swap out the HU and hard wiring it.
