Subwoofer sound quality

Hi everyone,
I just installed subwoofer in my chevy hhr. I had same woofer and amp in my mustang before. I used high level input in my mustang as my amp has option for high level input. it soundded great in mustang (with mustang factory headunit and rear speaker wires as input)

Now after i installed same set up in hhr, the sound sucks. something isnt really right. i used rear speaker wires as input. My hhr is LS with stock headunit.

I tried to change setting on my amp but nothing seem to work.

Should i try using front speaker wires???
My rear speakers are also on because i didnt cut those wires but just sliced them

Any thoughts?

Honestly I wouldnt splice into the any of the stock speakers but rather hook it up directly to the head unit. There is a way to do this on a stock head unit but for around the same price you could get a good aftermarket unit.

Are you using a crossover, or does your amp have a built-in crossover?

Maybe hook up another speaker to make sure you have good connection from your rear speakers. I'm planning the same install in my LS when I have time, I have the subwoofer, amp, and crossover, and I'm using a high level to low level converter before going into the amp. Then through the crossover.
