Warning Chimes Not Working

Have a 2006 Chevy HHR LS and the chimes have stopped working. If I go to the radio and hit button 6 I can adjust chime volume and hear it, but does not work with any indicators in the DIC. Ice Possible, Low Fuel, Auto Lights or Keys in Ignition are all quite. Anybody else have this problem and know of a fix for it?

At least the driver door speaker has gone bad. You haven't noticed only the tweeter on your side is making sound?

Just so the OP understand how it works:
The chime sound comes through the drivers door speaker channel. A bad speaker would mean no chime sound.
Many folks on this forum have lost their chime sounds before. Replacement of the speaker generally will fix the problem.

The driver side door speaker works, but only when it's warm outside. If its cold speaker doesn't work, no chimes, nothing. Warm and pleasant outside and speaker works like a champ and all warnings alarms work. Not sure why this is happening, why only one speaker and why only when it's cold.

Yes, like the others have already said, your speaker is going bad. Probably got some moisture inside the door. The shield inside the door is less than perfect.

The whole reason I came to this forum is because I was having problems with my stereo.

I did have my chimes and the passengers side front speaker still worked. I could still hear sound coming from the tweeter on the drivers side so the chimes were coming out of it.

I was pretty sure it was the stereo so I bought another. The local dealer could not get the replacement stereo to work in my car. So, I installed an old Clarion stereo in the car. It did not have the chime making thing in it at all. It worked fine with the original speakers for months but with out the chimes my wife could not tell when she was out of gas or if she had left the headlights on or the door open.

The dealer said I probably had gotten a bad replacement radio. GM said the radio I got should have worked in the HHR even though it had come from a Cobalt. So I bought yet another used stereo. Again the dealer said they could not get it to work.

Then one day I put the original stereo back in and replaced the speakers. It has been working fine since. You could use the search function and find my original post on this if you want to.

My advice is to get different speakers {and adaptors if you don't get genuine GM speakers} and install them. Your problems will most likely be over after that.
