What size capacitor??

Okay... I'm getting the stuff together for my system. I already have the sub and amp, and they'll be running 1400W RMS. I know I'll need a capacitor, I just don't know how many farads. I know there are a few people on here who have some experience with sound systems, so if anyone can help, it would be appreciated.

P.S. - Not to be rude, but I don't need suggestions on which brand to get, just the farad size.

Thanks
M

I think the general rule 1 farad per 1000 watts. So I would say 1.5 - 2. But I don't believe in using the things anyways.

Edit: Wait I realized you said RMS. what's your peak because I think thats what you're supposed to match the cap to.

Cool cool... I'll go with the "general rule" on this one. Oh... peak is 2400W. So I guess I'll go with a 3. Thanks CH.

if youre going to go caps, make sure you get the 20 volt caps, instead of 16. they have the potential to store more power. also check into smaller, kinetik type batteries. http://www.kinetikaudio.com/intro.htm their smallest cell has more power than 100 1 farad caps and is the same price as 3 good 1 farad caps.
