ABS module reprograming

Has anyone found a online program that I can use myself to reprogram my ABS module without to pay a enormous price of $ 150 - $ 300.Being disabled,
I can't afford that and a friend who is a offshore mechanic offered to change it for me. But he can't reprogram it,because he doesn't have the equipment to do it. 2009 HHR LS Panel - 2.2L.
Any help will be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Why?

From what I can tell from Mitchell, it's not so much the equipment as the access to TISWeb.

Welcome to the site.

So, I gotta ask. Why do you think the module is bad and needs to be replaced ? They are normally a very reliable part and seldom go bad.

Maybe explain the problem you are experiencing and the good folks on this forum can help you with a diagnosis and the fix.

ABS module reprograming

Hello Gentleman, nice to meet all of you. Have 2009 Chevrolet HHR LS Panel.
Brought my HHR to a independant mechanic who use to work for a Chevy dealer. He said it was the ABS module. ABS and Traction symbol shows up on dash. He cleared the code, but came right back.My traction button doesn't work
also. When I would take off on a fast start when it was working, had traction.
Now when take off on a fast start from a light,it peels out. Bought used ABS
module to replace it,mechanic said after he changes part he would have to take it to another shop to reprogram it.Think he quoted somewhere $ 150 - $ 300.
On what I get from disability, can't afford pay labor + reprograming.Any info.
you give would be a blessing. Have a friend who would charge me very little to replace it. Was trying to locate, online reprograming program. My 2 sons are
extremely good with computers,if I was to locate one and I could get a attach-
ment to hook up to my laptop, then that problem would be solved.
Is it remotely possible that maybe it just needs to be reprogrammed, due to
computer glitch in my system. Thanks. D.Brown

Do you not realize you already started a thread with basically the same info??????? Your new thread/post has been merged into your original one.

And the basic answer to your question of whether you can acquire a reprogramming program for your laptop to reprogram the system: No - specialized equipment is needed, not a simple laptop. If you want to reprogram it you will have to take it to a shop with the appropriate equipment as your mechanic has already suggested.

If you posted the codes here that your mechanic downloaded and cleared, we might be able to offer advice on how to resolve your problem.

I will bet the lights have nothing to do with the EBCM and you will be wasting your money.

If your mechanic has a good diagnostic computer (similar to a Tech2) he can get a subscription to TISWeb for as little as $55.

I'm disabled too, NOT on disability only early SS. You think you got trouble, you can afford to operate a car.
