Also if your target was a super quiet ride you should not be shopping in the ultra performance category , those tires were intended to be responsive shredding corners so they have stiffer sidewalls and thicker carcass construction compared to a tire designed for ride comfort. Go hit some corners and you'll quickly forget about that though
Oh, Now I find out. I wanted Ultra Quiet Performance, I could care less about cornering.

So can anyone recommend real quiet tires? I have $610 invested in tires I hate. Another 50,000 miles before I can lose these things.

It is kind of funny that this morning I parked next to a Cobalt SS that has 205/50-17 tires on it so I could stand back a look to see what the 205/55-17 tires I originally wanted would have looked like on the HHR from behind. I couldn't even tell the difference between the two from behind and they are identical sidewall heights so they look the same from the side.

One thing I have noticed though is that my mileage for my commute, 3 days worth so far, has been dropping since I got the new tires on. Always stays between 26.5 and 27.5, right now it is at 24.3. I have NEVER seen mileage this low unless I filled up with E85 which I haven't done in over a year.

Honestly I can't imagine the tires giving me that big of a mileage hit but the car don't lie. I really need to get the air pressure checked and figure out what is up with these tires because something ain't right. The only other thing the dealer did was look at my brakes when they changed the tires and I haven't noticed any brakes dragging so that just leaves the tires.

Won't be able to mess with stuff until Sunday when I am off work but will post with what I find.
