Apex Springs

I've searched this forum and cannot find anything about them on here so I did some research. Found out the model number 300-3000 shown for the HHR on andy's autosport site is the same part number for the cobalt on the manufacture's website. These springs claim a 2/2.5 inch drop from Andy's website but the Manuf. site says 30mm which is 1.2 inches...

A cobalt weights in (from what Google said) at about 2700 lbs and the HHR at around 3100 (about 13% heavier). Does anyone know if using (non-SS) cobalt springs = an extra 0.8 inches of drop?

if ur going to spend that much money might as well do either SS springs, Eibach, Canuck Motorsports or YYZ....i have never heard of Apex so i dont have anything really to say about them pros or cons, but like i said for price range might as well go with the more well known..just my opinion

also more people who have put cobalt springs on say they do lower more..but they will make the car more bouncy since the springs struggle to hold the heavier weight of the hhr

I would think the non ss cobalt springs will be too soft. I can tell you what struts you use affects the ride height. I did fe5 (HHR) with fe3 struts, came out 1/2" lower. Went with YYZv1's and fe3 struts, very happy with the package, drives nice.

Eibach used my HHR to redesign their rear springs because of the weight diffrence, offered to replace my rear Progressive springs but could not tell me how much it would drop the rear? so I stayed with Progressive 2 1/2 in. drop.

Thanks everyone for your info. After even more research I just ordered some springs and it looks like I get to be the guinea pig as I could not find any information related to these on an HHR..

I just ordered a set of Ksport GT springs for the Cobalt SS. It is a 2/2.5" drop (1/1.3 for the SS) and it was half the price of the Eibach Sportlines.. Not sure when I will have the time in install them, but I'll let everyone know how they work out.

Just remember the Ss has about 400 more #'s hanging off the rears..thats why the cobalt springs tend to be bouncy....I wish someone would get spring rates..it would go a looong way in determining just what works
And Sam..the height difference is because the F#5 shocks are pressurized and the Fe3 are not..the pressure tends to act like an air shock.

Not true....at least on the ones I took off my 2LT (FE3). Had a great big yellow sticker warning of the gas pressure. And this is one of the many differences, that members use, to tell the difference between a 1LT and 2LT (other than the basic glove box sticker).

They are typically better well known in the import and Euro scene. I found out about them in '98 when I bought my Prelude. Knew a few guys running them in Preludes & Integras...they all seemed happy with them. I was surprised to find out they made them for our HHR.

I would really like to know the spring rates on all the spring options, but only seem to find that info freely when shopping coilovers. I love a good high spring rate with matched or valved shocks.
