Question Front Sway Bar opinions please

I was planning on getting the Eibach Front Sway Bar because TTR had recommended it to me.

After I read a post on someone thanking Bob(I think his name is) at HHR Boutique about help with shocks and lowering I went to the site and saw this ugly bright green ST Suspensions Front Sway Bar.

Now I am wondering which one is better, the ST Suspensions 1-1/16" Solid bar or the the Eibach bar the is just over 1-1/8" and I have heard is hollow, not sure how true that is.

Opinions please.

We really don't think you'll get an opinion one way or the other as to which is better because most likely there isn't a member that has tried both on one vehicle! We have the Eibach front bar and give it two thumbs up! It is a PITA to install (should be done on a lift) but in the end well worth the time, money and effort!

According to Crateenginedepot there specs say the following as far as front bar diameter:

FE1: 19mm

FE3: 22mm

FE5: 24mm

I think the Eibach is 28.5mm diameter! Bigger is Better, right .....

For all the time, effort, and trouble; I say it's not worth doing it. I can't tell any difference. When I installed the rear bar,THAT made a HUGE difference.. In my opinion, you'd be better to get the right size after market poly bushings and just do those. BTW, the Eibach is way too friggin' heavy to be hollow.

Thank you for confirming that the Eibach bar is NOT hollow.
As for the poly bushings, I havent looked into that yet.

Very true, they have been in business for a long time, and have a reputation.

Thank you all for your opinions. I am always researching because time is free.

Bah, when it rains it pours. Was putting 2" blind spot mirrors on my car this afternoon, and cracked the passeneger mirror. There went $140 mirror over a $2 add-on.

The HHR does not need a front bar upgrade. Especially not if you haven't upgraded to at least SS level suspension and performance tires. Your shocks should be doing the majority of the work and a front bar will only increase understeer.

Your upgrade path should look something like this:

Stock > Tires > Rear Sway> Struts (FE5 and up) > Springs > Front Sway IF needed.

A big front bar stabilizes the body
lean more but also creates a lot more understeer, and may make the inside front tire spin madly under
power in a corner. A big rear bar can't give you back much lateral grip up front, but it can
give you back some motive traction. Basically lettting you
accelerate out of the turn, even when the front end is sliding pretty badly.
