HHR SS lowering springs still available in 2015
I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here guys, I'm just trying to get some updated information seeing as this model has been out of production for four years now and the aftermarket parts are dwindling. I'm on the hunt for a set of lowering springs that are made specifically for the SS model. I have spent hours of searching through old threads only to find in the end that some springs are no longer in production or guys are reporting initially that the springs are amazing and after a few months regret the purchase. I have seen the Cobalt SS/TC springs are a direct swap but the additional weight off the hhr and difference in spring rates bothers me. I'm not looking to slam it rather then give it a more aggressive stance but still be sensible. so basically what has stood the test of time? I have no problem with doing the footwork to see if they are still in production. I've just had a hard time finding a quality product.

The Cobalt SS/TC springs will give a very similar performance to factory. The difference in spring rate is due to the lower weight of the Cobalt. I have the YYZ V5 on my Cobalt, and am very pleased with them. The sit a bit lower than stock, and ride just as good, with a little more aggressive handling. They are a tad pricey, but are well worth the extra cost over other springs.
I have the YYZ V5's and while it's the best riding lowering spring I have owned. They are very noisey and clunk around too much for my liking. What powell racing sent me to rectify the problem was was rubber tubing that won't stay on.. For that kind of money I shouldn't have to add anything to your product to make them function correctly.
I had the B&G's prior and loved the low ride height, They were quiet but bouncy so be prepared for that.
I've heard mention of Lotek Cobalt springs from some members who say. Its as low as B&G but with a better ride. I'm tempted to try them to replace the YYZ's

Wierd, I never really had a noise problem with the YYZ's once they settled. The Pedders I had made a fair bit of noise, but I think something else was going on, as most of that suspension had around 100k miles on it.
Powell wouldn't really do anything to solve the issue other than send me some kind of rubber tube to put over the springs.. Everything was replaced at my cost (Struts, Moog End links, Top Hats and Bushings and LCA Bushing. The B&G's were quiet and made no noise. the YYZ's clunk around during turning. I've uninstalled/reinstalled 2-3 times now and he wanted me to send my whole setup to them... This is a Daily and I just can't be without for that long. At least from my experience I wouldn't recommend them for the price.
Ive contemplating trying the LoTek's, I would prefer a more level look any way versus the YYZ's high rear end. The B&G's offered the level look but at the cost of a bouncy ride. Ive heard the Loteks are a little better in that department

And to the OP, here are the YYZ V5's installed On mine. The rear sits higher and I wish it was level from an appearance view.

Here is a pic of the rubber isolaters they sent me so the fronts wouldn't clang around under turning

And here is a pic of the B&G's installed
