basically your bottoming out on the 1 to 1 1/2 inch gap left for the shock to absorb any deviations in road variations...
If you read his earlier posts he has no "bottoming" problems. The only rubbing issues are for owners running rims wider than 8" - or the wrong offset. HHR's are rubbing the insides of the rear fender lips with wider rims.
The HHR was designed for 7-inch wide rims, with a 42mm offset.
Most other lowered FWD cars must undergo the same mods to run wider wheels - or other offsets.
