Tony. I like your idea of using HHR SS springs instead of Cobalt springs. I just visited a Chevy dealer with my measuring tape. The rear wheelwell of an 08 HHR SS is 28.25" high. My 08 LT is 29". The SS has 18" wheels and tires which stand 25.75" high, my 17" LT wheels stand 25" high. By changing to HHR SS springs, my LT should lower the .75" difference in spring height, plus half the tire height difference (1/2 of .75" = .375") for a total drop of 1.12". If anything, I would hope the HHR SS spring has a slightly higher load rating than the Cobalt SS spring, which should handle the added HHR weight. Thanks for the idea!! I'm going to Chevy soon to buy HHR SS springs. A little over an inch drop is fine for me. I already ordered Turbo Tech's rear stabilizer bar. I'm hoping the two changes settle the HHR down and help the handling.

It figures there wouild be a catch. Cobalt SS rear springs list for $50 each. HHR rear springs list for $134 each, and GM Parts Direct doesn't even differentiate between standard HHR or an SS. I would think the springs were very close in content. God only knows why such a difference in price.

Well here's your answer. COBALT SS springs. Form dealer. Cost $38 each. Lots cheaper than aftermarket. I work in a parts store and have a great relationship with my dealer. I even have access to the dealership computer. They let me just walk all over the shop and even use the shop to work in at times. Anyhow if you need part numbers I have them. Front will be done tommorrow I'll report if my figures are correct.
BREEZE! Are you happy with the Cobalt springs? What did it do too the ride? Do the springs seem softer/weaker than the original springs? Please provide us with an update. I'm still deciding which way to go, Cobalt or HHR SS springs. There's a major price difference (see my previous entries into this thread.
