By Moog Problem Solver, do we mean the one with the ball joint inside? I’ve heard they wear out quickly, but the track guys don’t care because they like the practically zero compliance for mor precise handling. This one?




I was just looking at these two.

Yes and under normal driving conditions they last much longer then the OEM rubber bushings

The gold bushings is what I used. I think the cheapest and easiest part to replace, the sway bar bushings were the cause of my clunking over bumps, there was no play in the ball joints and some wear in the stock bushings, but boy o boy, the car steers so much better now. The motor mount was not visibly bad but I could tell the Glycol had leaked out. About $450 in parts, but it was worth it.

Glycol? I thought the motor mount was just aluminum and rubber.

GM has used liquid filled mounts for years, the late 90's Pontiacs were the first that I had seen them. A leaking motor mount was a strange sight to see. I believe the parts store replacement mount will just be solid rubber. The OEM mount went 131,000 miles and said Glycol filled on it. The new one from GM said the exact same thing. $155 for the mount is pricey, but worth it to me to have OEM.

Huh. Never heard of a glycol-filled mount on HHR. I saved what I assumed was the original motor mount from my HHR SS manual (not assuming the autos had the same p/n.) Need to take a closer look. Replaced with a rather stiff OTTP mount.

Speaking of, that bushing is an LCA bushing.
