Rear Suspension

my 2006 lt Hhr just got hit and it bent the rear axle so I have a chance to buy 2008 SS rear end and I am wondering other than the obvious will it bolt up to the point that is just little thing like brakes that I will have to mess with Thx Guys

I think so..... there's been a few guys do this as a modification and if you are getting the whole unit, brakes and all, it should be a bolt in.

Ya I am getting everything Spring Shocks Rotors completely assembled axle the insurance co want to pay me and let me keep car and the body shop says nothing else wrong but axle and some sheet metal and I always wanted to change to disc brakes on the back anyways !

Might need to consider an SS proportioning valve for the switch to discs in back.

Just remember to upgrade the front suspension to match the rear spring specs or you'll end up with some interesting handling traits. Probably just need to change out the struts and springs to SS spec units and you should be good to go.

I think Id compare part numbers on the master cylinder as well. Certainly worth looking into.

Isn't there a difference between break pressure applied to drums versus discs? You may need to get the proportioning valve too, no?
