Yes, I have to admit that is partly why I want to do this too. The simple answer of "because I can" has always been a practical reason for me. But also another reason is that on the Malibu forum over the years there's been threads about brake upgrades and no one has seemed to have anything. If this does work there'll be some happy people on another web board.

I'm also still looking at the idea of Saab rear brakes, but i'm still kind of confused on that. It looks like the calipers will fit but i'm having trouble because i'm finding two different size rotors, 278mm and 292mm, but no indications of more than one rear caliper option, unless i'm overlooking something.

On the Brembos for the front or the Saab’s for the rear? Because if it’s the rears that’s not an issue, I can still just good rotors and pads and hopefully that will suffice.

Thankyou for the heads up. Good to know before I went and gave it a shot. I’m sure a decent brake upgrade would be good rotors, pads, and braided lines. If i’m having issues with the front grabbing too much I may use an adjustable proportioning valve to even it all out.
