i went with KYB's replacement for the HHR, and they do not bottom out anymore. i didn't get any measurements for length differences when i swapped em, but they are shorter. i don't think your issue is the shocks though, the stockers didn't bottom out til the last 1/2" of the suspension cycle. it might just be the bump stops?

ok so there are bump stops in the back? cause i only thought they were in the front of the hhr with the struts? cause i dont think i remembe cutting any bump stops on the back but i know i cut them in the front.. but i still think im going to go with them kyb shocks jus to be safe.. and if there is bump stops in the back im going to have to raise my car up and find them and cut them...

here's a pic i found in the gallery ( HHR Style ) of rear springs, just cut the bump stop ( thing in the top of the spring ) a little shorter. oh and if you bottom out the shocks hard enough, you'll shear off the lower bolt and the shock will shoot into your rim while you're cruisin

I too replaced the stock shocks and struts with the KYB's but I used the ones made to fit the SS. They are about 1" shorter than the stock ones.

Whered you find that.....KYB doesn't list a shock specifically for the SS.....
The GR2 rear shock is 16'' extended...........
All models have the same PN so you are not getting anything different, unless KYBs are shorter for all models
