I think Brembos are like 12.5"

solman- What size are the SS rotors you just put on ?
They are listed as 296mm, which equals 11.6535". I remember the Brembo's were about an <1" bigger than that.

Makes me wonder if during 2008 did they increase the rotor size due to all the original complaints about brakes on the earlier models..... So, if anyone is thinking about doing this, I'd recommend measuring before you buy brackets you may not even need. I'd like to hear what any of the regular LS or LT with either motor has for rotor size. See maybe if this was something across the board. Also tells me that what is listed in most auto part stores books, is not correct. I think that of each member here that did this upgrade, both were 06 models.

Would the fact that they are panels be the reason? Maybe some sort of upgrade for potential commercial use? Just a random thought...

When I looked it up earlier, I specfically looked up a 2008 Panel. That was why I was wondering if there actually was a change at some point (gonna guess 08 since that is the year the SS came out). For a cost relation, it would be cheaper to only have 1 brake setup (non SS) verses having 2. But, it's GM, so who knows. Only way to know is to have some others see what size they have. It's obvious you can't go by what a parts store lists, as they only list one choice.

So if I do this on my LS with 16" wheels, do I use the same calipers. I don't see new calipers in the pics. or did I miss that part?

Original cailpers reused. You would only need to change those out if you wanted to go the the Bembro setup.

My 07 LS has small rotors..noticably different then my SS visually.
Was my thinking also about panels getting bigger brakes because they be work trucks,,,but then it was mentioned the LTs were the same size too....so..??

Not all LT's, mine didn't...... But it does make sense. I also remember after the 06/07 models, the raised the final drive ratio on the auto's. But Sleeper confirmed his still had the lower ratio of the early models. So maybe they did do the panels different. At this point, hard to say what all might have changed.

Yes, Option Code FX2 - 3.91 axle ratio

As to the rotors, I would also be very interested to hear from other (non-SS) Panel owners as to what size rotors they have.
I just thought mine were standard size..
If I were buying replacements, guess I'd have had a 'small' surprise,..

Mine is an '08 LS non-panel, and it has the smaller 10.86" rotors. I already bought the non-Brembo SS rotors and just ordered the caliper brackets this morning.

07 ,LS Panel ,11.5" rotors

I had the wheel shake and replaced my oem rotors with powerstop sloted and drilled rotors and caremic pads ,bedded, 6 months ,they were doing it again , I cut my oem rotors and put then back on ,1 1/2 months and there in bad shape now ,the man that resurfaced the rotors said driver was fine, pass. was out a bit ,so could the pass caliper be doing most of the stopping, proportion valve not working or M/C not working right . I talked to the auto store I got them from, before I resurface the slotted one's , to see If they'll do something , I know once there cut they aint going back. but I have an 07 LS Panel with big rotors
