For the 06 you'll need Energy Suspension p/n 9.5159 23 mm bushings, sounds like you have the 1 inch poly bushings for the later LS/LT

quote from the Common parts list Donbrew mentioned:
- FE1:
>>> 2006 & 2007 production until VIN#3GNDA23P26S546471. Use GM PN 15822993 (which equates to a 23mm bar - energy suspension pn: 9.5159 (greaseable) - 9.5115 (non-greaseable))
>>> for FE-1 suspension after VIN#3GNDA23P26S546472. Use GM PN 20902784
(Note: my early early 2006 FE1 sway bar crudely measures out at 23MM so double check yours as the 1" bushings do not fit mine)
- FE3: Energy suspension poly for 1inch/25mm bar - greaseable - 9.5161 (9.5110 non-greaseable)
- FE5: Energy suspension poly for 23mm bar - greaseable - 9.5159 (9.5115 non greaseable)
------- GM - 20902785

Energy Suspension sway bar bushings

I want to replace sway bar bushings with greaseable ones from Energy Suspension. My swaybar GM number is 15233085. It is about 1" in diam. Should I use # 9.5161- 1"-25mm. or 9.5160 .094-24mm. Thanks for any help.

x2 what Donbrew said.

Just to make sure of the size, throw a pair of calipers on the bar to double check the thickness especially if it has the FE1 suspension as I believe they can have different diameters depending on the year.

Lowering Front sub Frame to remove sway bar bushings

How do you lower front sub frame to make it easier to install new sway bar bushings ? Do you have to unhitch the links ?Thanks

I suppose you could do it that way but I just unbolted the brackets that hold the bushings and removed the sway bar itself.

Only took me about an hour but that was in summer weather. I don't think I'd do it this time of year without an indoor heated space to do it in.

And yes, you do have to remove the end brackets so plan on replacing those too. I could not get the nuts off mine so I had to grind them off.

You might be lucky and get them to come off without destroying them, but probably not.

A. give the search a try: you might have found this:https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...acement-52921/

B. if you really want to lower the cradle; loosen the 2 rear bolts and let it drop down. But, please be prepared with torque specs before you re-tighten the bolts. You might want to replace the LCAs at the same time.

06 HHR sway bar bushings

I have replaced the sway bar bushings 4 times and they only last a few months and noise is back. I have tried GM and then the red greasable ones. No difference. I noticed that the 06 sway bar 25 MM is no longer available. Would I be better to go with an 07 HHR sway bar ? Anything else I should check ? Thanks for any help. Car has 210,000 and runs perfect.

Are you sure it's the sway bar bushings causing your problem... (I'm assuming the problem is a noise of some type?)
