I'm getting just the bare strut, but the auto hobby shop I'll be doing the install at has a spring compressor. I've got to say having a full shop to use on the base for a few dollars an hour is nice.

Rear struts???????

If your roads are rough, I would honestly stay away from anything too low. Lowering springs tend to compromise the ride quality(though not all do).

As far as sway bars go, I wouldn't bother swapping the front sway bar. It's a lot of work for not a lot of gain, especially if it's just a street car that will see no track.

Trex, what SS parts aren't compatible with non SS models? As someone that had just about everything mechanical from an SS, short of the drivetrain, swapped into his LT, I can tell you, damn near everything from an SS will fit a non SS.

Well, I am new to this forum, and new to working on my car.
I have an '08' LT 2.2 with 199,988 miles. Loulabelle is riding bouncey. :) Front strut replacement seems pretty straight forward. Rear shocks too.
But, the thing I am stuck on is rear struts. I cant even find them for sale. Please, help me out fellas.
Last month I was a 45 year old virgin. Changed my own oil for the first time. So be gentle. ;')

Some foreign stores refer the all shock absorbers as struts. Technically the front suspension is McPherson strut and the rear is trailing arm with shock absorbers.

Thank you for the fast response. Ok, then it makes sense I cant find any.
So, those large sets of springs near the rear shocks, that look like struts.....What are they called? And do they ever need replaced? The rubber pad they sit on in looking worn and cracked.

Springs.

They do wear.

The isolators do wear out and make noise.

I think You will have to order two #5 Jounce Bumpers on the "diagram" in order to get the Top Isolators.

They do not sell them separately.
