Sway bar lateral lock

I know whiteline makes lateral locks for the sway bars and the hose clamp with rubber is a tried and true method of laterally locking a sway bar but has anyone tried a bike seat clamp? Is there any reason why this wouldn't work?

I don't know why it wouldn't, provided it is the correct size, it should provide effective clamping force.

However spreading it over the sway bar may cause it to snap in half, these might work better!

I don't have any lateral lock in place.. I put the poly sway bar bushings in and they allow lateral movement of the sway bar.. People have said to use hose clamps and garden hose.. But I thought maybe the bike seat lock would work too

I've got the Energy Suspension polyurethane sway bar bushings, they don't move around on me, but my OEM plastic retainers are still intact.

You're welcome, let me know how the work out, please.

Both HHRs I've worked on had plastic stops on the bar from the factory.

A little bit of lateral play is "normal". Assuning you were sold the correct size bushings.

There are factory stops on the inner sway bar between the bushings but not on the outer(from bushing to sway bar end link/shock)

I don't notice any adverse effects when city driving but when I am on the highway and hit bumps in the road I can feel the front end shift over.. So I am not sure if the lateral movement is the cause but I am going to do the hose clamp and rubber trick until I decide what I am going to order online..

After further investigation I can see that the bar is only allowed to move about 1 inch laterally towards drivers wheel and 1 inch towards passenger wheel before the inner factory locks stop it... Is that normal? Should I still lock it in a central position?

That's normal, have a close look at your lower control arm rear bushings!
