Well I know that the cobalt and hhr suspensions are basically the same. So my question is ... Would the aftermarket front sway bars from a cobalt fit the hhr? has anyone tried or done it? I would really like to stiffen the suspension, I plan on using the eibach pro-kit to lower just would like they sway bars also but none are advertised to fit hhr except rear. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

 

I believe the sway bars will fit and have been waiting on the Eibach kit myself but from what I understand it has been under development for quite a while and is far from coming out. I might wait and see about getting the bars from the SS once they become available.

for stock or slightly spirited driving, you may never feel the need to upgrade the front bar, the rear bar, at stock levels, definitly needs to be replaced, but there's a point where the rear may want to step out before the front does... then you need a new front...

it all depends on your driving style and how you want your car to behave.

i know the front comes with a sway bar, and some with a rear bar... if it's ONLY the front then yes, a rear bar is nearly mandatory, but upgrading the front is still needed if you're really going for a car that handles well. about 27mm in the fron paired with a 19-22 in the rear will do the trick...

the factory will never properly equip a low to mid-priced car not geared for performance with beefy suspension - it's too harsh.



a full, properly setup suspension WILL include the following: coilovers, sway bars, poly/solid bushings, camber plates, lightweight wheels, a strut tower brace, solid engine mounts, and sticky rubber.

the trick is to buy components that AT LEAST designed to work with each other, but adjustable components are preferred to allow the driver to setup and adjust according to his/her driving style and conditions.

Not everyone would be able to handle the ride from a full out handling suspension. Just too harsh for most. A little better than stock, I think, is the goal for most daily driver people.
