Upgrading Suspension

I have a 2011 2.2L L4. I need new shocks, struts, springs. I would like to upgrade to the SS suspension parts. From what I can tell, reading here, the parts will fit on my car. Just want to make sure I have everything I need. If I'm missing anything, or there is a parts list, please let me know. I love my car, and am a newbie as far as being a mechanic, but with the help of some friends, I can tackle this.

These are the parts that I have found so far:

ACDELCO #540442 (FE5) REAR SHOCKS
ACDELCO #10390024 REAR SPRINGS (could not find these on RockAuto)

ACDELCO #903039RS LEFT FRONT STRUT ASSEMBLY
ACDELCO #903038RS RIGHT FRONT STRUT ASSEMBLY

Do I need strut mounts? What are bellows for? I'm a little bit of a time crunch, as I'm driving from Houston to El Paso in a couple weeks, and would like to have this done before going.

I thought I read something about adding a rear sway bar? Any part numbers for that?

Thanks in advance!!

I only checked the part numbers for the front struts - they are not for the SS from what I saw. They are for the 2.4 and 2.2L cars - (Fe1/3 suspensions).

you might want to check out this thread, https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/comm...-part-i-48833/ and give the SEARCH tool at the top of the page a try.

If you get "assemblies" you don't need bellows or mounts. The bellows are the dust shields to keep junk off of the shaft.

If you are wanting an fe5 you need to get the fe5 struts, springs, mounts, bellows, and whatever they call the upper and lower spring isolators (unless they come with the strut, IDK). As far as anyone has reported there is no fe5 assembly on the market.

Rear sway bars are after-market. Check our supporting vendors forum. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/supporting-vendors-25/

Monroe markets a "quick strut" assembly ( pre assembled with no need for dangerous spring removal. You just remove the old front struts, and replace them with the new. They also have the upgraded rear shocks. The only other thing you WILL need is an alignment. Before you replace the rear springs, try an after market rear sway bar. You will eventually install one anyway.

Not fe5 that anyone has heard of yet. You got something New?

Why would you need an alignment after replacing struts? The angles are preset by the unibody.

Because the camber is set by adjusting the angle at the wheel knuckle to the strut. You loosen the two bolts/nuts and adjust for proper camber there. Only the caster is set by the unibody placement.

have a search for KYB struts and shocks and Canuck Motor Sports lowering springs, I.ve had mine now 4 years and 95,000 miles no issues with springs bottoming out, no leaks well worth the money! Kinda like an FE3 suspension only lower!!

Only if you have installed a camber kit or drilled out the holes in the struts!

The ONLY available adjustment on a STOCK HHR is toe.
