If you can get the wheel/tire off the ground you can hear a bad bearing when spinning the wheel/tire by hand and feel it by grabbing the top and bottom of the the wheel/tire assembly and moving it in and out.

It's like when women start working together. They all begin to have their time of the month at the same time. Karma.

I have a feeling my wheel bearing is going, but I'm confused about the warranty on my HHR. I always thought it was 3/36,000, but what I'm reading here they went to 5/100,000 in '07. Can anyone verify? It's really important to me, as my AC is also bad and it will probably be expensive.

Power train covers the hub bearings for 5/100 on all '07 and newer.

FWIW: Axle nut torques to 81 ft lbs, & hub bearing bolts (3) torque to 85 ft lbs.

wheel bearings

Passenger side of my 06 HHR LT needs a wheel bearing replacement. Last time I replaced a wheel bearing was on my 1951 Chevy pick-up...I've owned Mazdas, Toyotas and got well over 150,000 miles on them and NEVER had to replace a wheel bearing...just cheap GM crap...just made the last payment on the car 3 months ago, and now repairs,\.:
The car could have been so much better but typical GM they cut corners with cheap rotors, brakes are horrible on the thing, crappy front end and when I bought the thing in 2006 it only came with a 36mos/36000 ml warranty....
but I love the stupid thing, go figure

I have a 2006. I can't get that wheel bearing outta' there. Tried everything including destroying that spacer because the hammer got too close. (Tried the air hammer too.) Its rusted in tight. My only conclusion is to use a slap hammer (slide hammer). Will give that a try this week when I have some time off work.

only M J got the instructions right to remove the bearing hub, Just Beat It!! I used the slide hammer it worked also after I soaked the hub to knuckle area with Liqiud Wrench penatrating oil over night!!

Lol, M J. Yes, I have soaked it for two days now. Oh, and I beat the hell out of it. Good to know the slide hammer worked for you. I can't find my slap hammer. I think it grew little feet and walked away. I will Harbor Freight it. Thanks Oldblue.
