change of tires in order?

Anyone else find they are wondering if they should change tires from factory supplied. Winter was a little crazy last year, so it was hard to gage if I should invest in a better set of All Seasons.Fishtailing outta my driveway has me wondering.......

I would recommend it. I found the stock Firestones to be quite poor in winter driving conditions (especially in very low temperatures). I put on a new set of Goodyear Assurance Tripletreds and am finding that getting around this year is a lot easier. I'm able to go up hills that I couldn't before and am getting through the snow lined, icey streets much easier.

Aiming for all season as I think the winter tires are more of a finacial aid to tire and auto industry...why is it that the winters are much the same than even 10 years ago, cars are lighter, true, but the yearly added agro and expense is crazy. Can't tell me that tires are not better now than then either! If worst I will try winter tires.
Thanks for the feedback!

Unfortunatly, I live in Gatineau (Quebec) and they past a law last year that all passenger vehicles are required to have winter tires from Dec 15 to March 15. It sucks cause stores tried to raise the price even more until a ''Freeze'' was put into efect.

Another reasone why I miss Ottawa and Toronto

After 55,000 km. I still have the stock firestones. Ya, they suck and a set of winter tires are on the list. I've hated firestones for years now after having them on my '80 Supra. So, I am wondering what I should get for a decent, easy to find, inexpensive winter tire.
