Hi Yves, I live on wallace, off the 105. Sounds like you have the same model as me except transmission and colour.

Jean,

Did you buy it at Hamilton in Wakefield? Your specs sound familiar and I have taken a peek at one just like that before buying mine. I didn't want a dark color, so I didn't test drive, and then I decided to buy the automatic instead.

Happy riding

No I did not get it from Wakefield, Got it from Hull And they got it from Montreal .
They did not have any in stock and were pretty impressed with the colour when they received it.
Cheers

Question Rustproofing

Hi all. Since you guys are in the Hull area, you live with the same 'WINTER' conditions as me in Oka PQ. So, just wondering if anybody gets their HHR treated for corrosion (ex: underside of car sprayed with an oil treatment before winter)??? Salt and calcium are MURDER on a car's body in the long run. So, I plan on getting some kind of 'acrylic' wax to protect the paint and an oil treatment for the underside. Any suggestions?? What do you guys do for winter protection?? Thanks.

I have been having mine sprayed with Krown. Either that or rust check would be your best bet IMHO. There are quite a few members here that do not believe in apply rust protection. I share their view regarding the dealer applied stuff but having had other cars treated with rust check or Krown, I decided to do the same with the HHR. The only down side is that it drips for a fair while afterwards.

I have done nothing in particular with the paint beyond a few applications of polish before the winter. My paint came through last winter great.

On the oil protection, I'm still debating over it.... I had it done (almost yearly) on a '92 Cherokee that I kept for 11 years, and it proved effective, in the sense that rust wasn't the issue when I replaced it. In fact, I sold it to a guy that had the same car but had just broken his frame rails (due to rust) on his. Mine were still in good shape.

Then I had my Elantra treated for 3 years and traded it for the HHR, so not enough time there to judge the effectiveness.

Past experience (Cherokee) tells me to get it done, but I also know that back in the '90, major efforts / manufacturing improvements have supposedly gotten rid of most of the rust issues. I'm still over the fence. I guess that inertia will lead me to wait and see how it comes out without it after one winter and then decide.

If you have it done, try and pick a place where you can drive the car in and out of the garage yourself; these guys take some precautions, but they still leave an oily mess of the inside...

On the paint itself, I just make sure that it has a good quality synthetic wax on it before the winter.
