This shows how many GM vehicles this shaft fits.

I think that 2007 models in Canada has an extended warranty that covers a new column. I know that GM CANADA does cover all EPS motors for life. Special Coverage 10413.

To clarify, the column is not covered up here in the great white north, according to my GM dealership.
I have that annoying rattle, which the dealership points out to me when I go in there ( I get my tires from them, best price, free balancing)
Fear not Don , I do all my HHR work here at home with my trusty wrench turner , Dan!

Mine just always had a spot that felt like a universal joint turning over hard.

Mine sounds like I dropped a screw or nut into it, but it only rattles over bumps and train tracks , frost joints on cement highways are amusing!

Gregg gives a bit of a rattle over large bumps/train tracks too. I am going to be replacing my steering rack due to what I believe to be a failed inner or outer (or both) tie rod on the pass. side (give a good faint rapid popping noise when turning the wheel when stationary and occasionally in reverse, CV Axle wouldn't make noise when turning the wheel in park so that was a RO) and I was contemplating ordering a new I. Steering Shaft but I think I will save that repair for another day. While under there I'll visually inspect the joint and make my decision then.

Update:

I went thru the whole car yesterday and found a few loose bolt that needed tightening.

Sway bar bolts were very loose so I went ahead and tightened them to spec.

Now the only thing I get when going over uneven is the rattle.

I always recommend, got a rattle? Retorque the bolts, they do loosen up!

Thanks.

How long can I go with the rattling steering column before needing to replace?
