I am having a simular problem. Roaring noise. Sound changes on different road surfaces but dont go away. Tire shop says its the tires. They are kelly invictor . Rotated the fronts to back (better tread) and now the noise(roaring) is worse. They checked the hub assy's and said they were ok. The truck just turned 100,000 wish i had a set of different tires and wheels to see what they would do.

There are deals out there from tire shops that will allow you a 30 day free test ride. Michelin, Bridgestone, and probably some others including Firestone have test offers.
I would make contact with all 3 of those and see what they offer if you don't like the tires.
Make your best price deal in case that fixes the problem and you decide to keep them.

Good Luck,

SF

Wheel bearing hub/ 2007 hhr/2lt/panel

Found my roar yesterday and fixed in about 35 min. It was the wheel brg hub assy. I check this and that / many test. Chevy parts guy told me to jack car up and turn wheels and put my fingers on the coil spring and if i felt any vibration in was the hub on that side. Did that and didnt feel any difference. However i decided to go one more step did the same test motor running in gear and both tires turning (caution this dangerious) . Then i felt the bad hub on rt side.
