I'm going to tow Oldblue into the barn and pull the transmission. I'll probably drop the whole cradle with the engine and trans. Since the engine threw a rod, time to take off any useful parts from the engine and take the block to the metal scrapyard.

Then I'll put the 2011 on the lift and drop the trans pan to see what it looks like in there.

If you still have the broken transmission from Oldblue you can use that tube

Well, step 1 is to remove the transmission from the donor car:

And then separate it from the cradle, getting ready to separate engine from transmission:

Next step is to put cradle back onto Oldblue so suspension can be reinstalled and the car pushed back outside for future parts needs.

Then bring 2011 HHR into barn and remove the bad transmission.

You know you can drop the cradle with the suspension attached? remove the nuts holding the struts.

But you have to put the cradle back to put the suspension back on to hold the car up.

cinder blocks. furniture dollies. If you are going to put the empty cradle back anyway. Saves a few steps

I drove over to assist with the transmission install, it’s all in and the transmission from Oldblue works great in the 2011. Problem solved! Thanks guys, I had a great day helping you.
