starting problems

I haven't been active in a while so I'd like to apologize for that to begin...I have been so busy I don't check in as often as I'd like...so now for my problems

So yesterday I remote started my car and it ran for the usual 10 minutes ( I heard it start.) I went out about 15 minutes later and tried to start it to go somewhere and it just kept cranking and cranking and wouldn't fire:-(...so of course after a few minutes the battery dies. So today I charge the battery up with a jump from my truck and I checked with my meter to verify the voltage is correct. "dead" it was 11.9v(may have been good enough to start, i dont know)...charging it was at about 14.4v.... and I let it go for probably a half hour. so i disconnect everything and then check the battery and sure enough its at 12.8v.

I try to start it and nothing.. I get a flickering CEL and a bunch of service this and service that crap...I can hear the fuel pump... but I am afraid if I finally get it to turn over than I have other problems...or just the cold?

So next I check the start relay..34 under the hood...tests ok, but I change it out with the defog relay (same relay part number) and the same thing happens...

I also can't hear the start solenoid "hammer/click" noise...Its acting as if the battery is nearly dead but the voltage is proper..oh btw the battery is about 18 months old.

any input would be great!

Seems very familiar, dead cell in the battery , have it load tested to confirm , but I would bring your receipt if it's still under warranty.

You said both cranking and cranking, but no fire and can"t hear the solenoid. Is the starter motor turning the engine over or not?

I was pretty frustrated and should be more clear. Currently the car will not turn over. 12.8v present at the battery terminals.

The cause of where I'm at now:
The car did turn over for for a minute or 2 with me trying to start it and it eventually stopped ( I assume I killed the battery).

I checked all fuses and relays. To no avail.

I guess the only other info I have is the day before I took a 150 trip the was fine with the exception of a moment where the DIC said eng power reduced. It only came up for a half second and it was fine....no limp mode or anything.

Can the battery show 12.8 on the meter and still be done for? And if I had jumper cables hooked up for a while shouldn't it turn over?

I would look at the ground wire at the radiator support driver side and the red connection to the fuse box for starters.

Ok so some new info. The battery dropped from 12.5v to 11.5v or so when I tried to start it. Is this normal if it doesn't turn over? Thanks for thehelp I appreciate it:-) .

I can't get under it until tomorrow with some daylight

12.5 is too low. 11.5 won't turn it over.

You can get to the ground wires from up top, sounds like the battery is done, but do have it checked out with a load test if possible

Well I bought a battery. Picking it up tomorrow (not in stock). My battery is seriously less than 2 years old. Kinda weird if it's the problem
