Sorry, the bypass solenoid. I'm sure the cause was the MAF but figured I'd just replace both. The car has 163K. I replaced the MAF first and it solved the problem but after replacing the solenoid, it made a difference. A little quicker and a little quicker to spool up. For $50 it was worth it.
08 165K, turbo works when cold then won't go past 3-5 PSI. I replaced the solenoid on the manifold, easy first right? Didn't fix it. Removed the one off the Turbo and it's the same one. Searching old threads on here and they reference a Borg Warner part number. They are $150 or so. Other threads suggest a Ford part which is what I ordered for the manifold replacement. The one I ordered and the one off the turbo are the same except for the mounting. Borg Warner is $159 and one is $20. Interchangeable? Same solenoids.
This is a continuation of your previous issues, so threads merged.
Have you pulled codes recently? The P0101, even pending (which won't light the CEL), will disable the turbo.
I'm still struggling with the same issue. After startup, turbo works for a bit (I'm guessing open loop) then it drops out when the pending code hits. Sometimes the turbo will come back after 15-20 minutes of driving, even if the code still shows pending, sometimes even when hard set and CEL on.
Seems like the turbo comes back after depressing the clutch pedal a number of times, but I don't know how that could be real. I know it has never come back while cruising, only after a shift. It also usually comes back after a quick restart, but it doesn't last long, and it doesn't always work.
If I ever get time, I want to look at the lower TMAP sensor. My ECM is tuned, with the 3-bar sensors. The lower sensor requires mounting differently than stock. Or perhaps it's become loose and is leaking air.
