Gas Mileage
tires
Hey all , well I have a 2007 2LT /2.4 and my milage is about 20 / 24 and that is arround town and back and forth to work .( a 15 ml. trip one way ) and yes I too have not been happy with the milage . But is far better then the 14/16 i was getting with my Astro van . The other problem that I've been having is the noise from the front struts every time i hit a speed bump as I leave the neibherhood. the sevice tec said it was the rubber that is between the springs and the struts . Would love to get rid of that , guess i could just wait till weather warms up .

on tires
different brands and types of tires will have different max psi rating. my oem firehawk gtas have 44 psi max. i run 39 cold. it ussually goes up to 41-43 after i drive for a few minutes/miles.
I have to admit it has been a long time since I've been here. My wife has decided that she wants to keep the HHR. I've been following this thread and after 26K miles, we still get the worst mileage ever. My Duramax only gets 2mpg less than this thing on the highway. So....someone give me some recommendations for how to get way better mileage so she will quit bugging me about it lol.
thanks!

What mileage are you getting on it? Is it mostly city, or highway?
The trade off to this being faster tire wear and decreased handling capability (i.e. less grip on the road), especially in wet weather and snow. Not worth a small increase in mileage, IMO. The number to stick with is the one in the door. Sometimes its desirable to run a couple of extra PSIs when carrying a little more weight for example or to adjust the ride a bit.
