I was hoping to get 29 or 30. I was trying too, not just leaving it up to chance.

I blame the mountains... too much being out of OD. I'm happy with it, its just little less than I hoped for - if I was on the flat I'd have easily done it.

Love the HHR.

Youre doing good considering 65-70's mph you have the 2.4 and I assume an auto.

2008 2LT 2.4L Auto here,, Long trip from So Cal to Reno NV. 28MPG up and 30MPG back DIC read avg speed at 48 MPH up and 52 MPH back was running 70 to 80 MPH when I could...

This week I have been running in L.A. traffic on the freeways, I have used about 3/4 of a tank and the DIC is showing 27.7 MPG AVG. DIC reads 32MPH avg... I haven't seen less than 24.6 MPG in 8600 Miles, (even with my lead foot) That's OK with me!!

Last tank, 193 miles. Average speed 17MPH. These cars get sucko mileage doing only short, slow trips.

The other day I was driving on the freeway with the cruise on and was playing with the DIC functions.I brought up the instant m.p.g. and watched it change over a range of 5 m.p.g. just by traversing the undulating pavement. That was the throttle opening and closing to maintain the set road speed.

my mileage has dropped 2-3 miles per gallon in the past couple of weeks and my drive has not changed, I was getting 25 now 22-23. I guess it has to do with colder weather. Hell I was getting that in my monte carlo ss. Oh well I still love my HHR

Made a trip to Bakersfield last weekend and here are the numbers:

Round trip: 382 Miles, running 80-85 when I could.

Average speed: 52 MPH.

DIC read 28.2 MPG.

Took 13.7 Gal. to fill up. I got the "low Fuel" warning about 5 miles from gas station.

DIC read 482 Miles for Range (Suuure!)

I did the milage on a calculator and I got a reading of
27.8 MPG! Thats only .4MPG differance I'm still a happy camper!!

PS. Hey Don! Those numbers will look a lot better after the Toms Farms trip!

Made the same trip, but from Burbank the week before for the Hotrod reunion. DIC said 30.1 over the three days I was there. Hotel to the track everyday and back, then back to the sin fernado valley.

Temps are cooler in LA now in the mornings and my drive to work is showing a 2-3 mpg increase. 34-37mpg one way. Burbank to Cerritos (32 miles) all freeway.
