I've had my HHR 2LT for about 3 1/2 weeks, out of the 221 miles on the car I've driven 193 of them. So far my MPG is 15.2 miles, all short trips, AC always on... My average speed is 13.2 MPH.....

I expect this all to change this weekend when I finally put some mileage on it during the Bodega Bay trip.

Considering my driving habits, mostly very short trips, I'm pleased with the MPG. My 88 BMW 325i only did around 10 MPG or less...

Cool your new 09 HHR qualifies for the Cash For Clunkers program.

It's funny when you think about it....... My BMW was at 18 MPG combined city/hwy, I think I only saw that kind of mileage if I drove to Reno or the Bay Area.....

Because I work at home for my job, I don't have a commute. Almost every place I go is less than 2 miles from my home. Last year I drove about 1300 miles.....

I just drove 325 miles this weekend, 80% highway, 20% dirt roads (bad ones!) and averaged 26.7MPG. :)

Funny driving my grandpa's '08 Silverado to school the other day...with the AVG saying 16.5 and then the instant would run between 15 on the 8 cylinders and 23 on the 4 cylinders.

And then I laugh thinking about what I get in my HHR....

i am similar, everything here is just a couple miles away, i work 1.8 miles away, and everything is less then 5 for sure. My family lives 6 hours away though, so it gets some good road trips.

The best I have gotten is 32, which others claim to get even better, but i i think 4 over the number they says is pretty darn good. On average i get around 22, so right on the other edge, filled up the other day and was at 18.5, not happy about that. Along with the short distances here though there is a big hill, so it just kills the mileage. I coast on the way to work and chug away on the way home.

Cosistantly get 30+
Mostly secondary roads with few stops mixed with maybe 10-20% city and a few full boost romps.
If I get less than 30 I know I need to stay out of the skinny pedal.

Most I ever got on a full tankfull was 33.5 - all highway @ 70 MPH from Abingdon Va to just before Scranton Pa.

I calculate my MPG every tankful (brim to brim) and it's always within .5 MPG of Driver Info Center readout.
