Those bolts are for the latch system that holds the child seat in place, so they are secure. I have one child that rides back there at a time, they sit on the floor and buckle up, they have the pillow at their back or under them depending on what is most confortable to them. It is a secure setup. BTW I am getting ready to do my first oil change, I purchased Mobile 1 and the dealer told me I should use regular oil for the first several oil changes to seat the engine. Does anyone have any thoughts on that? I was just going to use the Mobile 1.
I also checked with a friend who is a mechanic, he put s10 jump seats in his Jeep to tackle that problem, this works out well, my kids are safe. my originl thought was to put a child seat back there and secure that, we found that it works just as well to let them sit on the floor they are buckled up and secure....even my 11 year old likes riding back there....

I bet I can guess.
ok, this is for Solman98 and whomever else is sceptical by all this. First of all, I didn't do this haphazardly, the value of my children are extremely important to me, I double checked with the police again, having them look at my anchor points of where I put the seat belt anchors. At the front of the back area is two latch points, they if you check the owners manual, are for the latch system with child seats and so are anchored to the car. Having said that, the police and I spoke to the police chief who has had many years experience under his belt told me the setup I have is completely legal and the child will be secure in it, he also suggested a booster seat there if the child is under 8. So I now have a booster there. This is not something I would take lightly:"I tell you what, take that setup to the either the police department or fire department and see what they tell you......." and it is definitely not something that I would post here if it were illegal.....

Ok, 1st impressions from the first day or so of driving my new (to me anyway) HHR. drove it in several different conditions yesterday at different speeds, head wind, tail wind, interstate, etc. Just from watching the DIC...
60 mph with a tail wind(15-20 mph) - Instantaneous Mileage read 38-41 mpg (put about 20 miles on that way)
60 mph with a head wind (same speed) -IM read 32-35 mpg
65-70 mph, IM read 29-32 mpg
80 mph on interstate, IM read 26-29 mpg.
