Well I think I'm about there.

That's what I notice... even with hearty romp driving my SS gives me 20-21mpg. Turn the the air on....

Just returned from a camping trip up to Meredith, Mi. Around 180 miles one way from my house. Filled up before the trip and when I returned today, my DIC was showing 29.4 mpg. That was with my one buddy in the car and around another 200-300 pounds wiorth of camping gear. Only used cruise around 30 percent of the time on I75 because of traffic and construction. Kept speed between 80-85 most of the time. If I didn't have all the extra weight, used the cruise more often, and knocked the speed down to 75; I am sure I would have been near 31 or better.

FWIW, If you dont use the ac and use the recycle instead, it gives cooler air and no mpg drop. Low fan setting too. I have gotten around 38 on the highway by useing the recycle and sticking about 20 feet behind a big rig. I know that may not be most peoples cup of tea at 65-70, but you just have to be confdent in your driving ablity. I also use cruse and stick it in neutral going down hills or when coasting to lights or in traffic, when ever possible. Just my 2 cents

You have to consider though how many stone chips you'll get when drafting others, especially semi's. Does the cost of repairing them (if they bother you) outweigh the cost of gas saved?

I have not picked up any stone chips from that yet. Though the front of the car looks like its been in a battle with all kinds of things. We have come to the relizattion that we may have been backed into at some point. The car is not perfect by any means, so a few chips here and there aren't going to hurt it any for now. I have a buddy that is a auto collison major, and he said he will fix it for low cost for me. Its a daily driver, so I am more concerned about miliage then a few little dings. That being said, I still dont like it not fawless but it is the way it is. It came from the factory with dirt spots in the paint, they show up real good on the orange.

A good wash and wax helps with the miliage too. As well as removing the anttena on the highway.

Just my 2 cents

You do know that hitting recycle automatically turns on the A/C right?

Relly? The A/C light never comes on, nor can you hear or feel the compressor come on. Either way its colder, and I never use that anyway unless its super hot.

I checked the mileage on my SS for the first time since I got it(almost a week ago) and my average was 26.5.

It's true, look in the Owners Manual.. & my A/C light doesn't come on either in recycle mode.
