I finally figured out the dynamic in play in my above statement!! About running better when it's cool!! When it's cool, i don't run the air. When i run the air, it becomes a bit of a sled!! Without the air, it's a little rocket!!! It feels like it takes 25 HP to run the air!!???

Consistently getting 17.5- 18 mpg in town!!! Really disappointed.

The last time i came back from Vegas (visiting my brother only, there is nothing i like about that sleazy town!!!!) i was @ 32 + mpg when i pulled off the freeway. It was impressive I can drive conservatively or i can do the lead foot thing, In town it just won't get better than 18 mpg. It doesn't seem to make much difference.

My 2006 LS sucks down the dino juice at a consistent 16-17 mpg in Metro DC commuting, which is more like extended parking interrupted by frantic bursts of speed between lights.

It's a rare thing when a tankfull goes more than 250 miles, one of the joys of working for the guv'mint.

Just returned from an HHR..G.W.N.N. event, and noticed I averaged 27.8 mph on the whole trip. Great for a 300hp engine....

How many miles on the car? 18 mpg, I can not force my HHR to get that low mpg. Around town mine has dropped to 22 mpg, but any highway driving my mpg goes back up into the mid 20s. All highway, I'll be at the 30+ consistantly.

Okay....That thing is SICK.

Also, as a "Younger" HHR owner (26) I chose this car, not just for the price but for it's uniqueness. It's retro, available in a stickshift, decently powered, gets 33 MPG if you're not stupid with it and it's endlessly personalized.

I chose this car over a Nissan cube, Scion XB, Jeep Compass and most notably a PT LOOSER. I'd take the HHR over any of them. I even started "window shopping" for another car recently as I used to be a sports/muscle car guy and nothing new felt like the HHR.

I don't think I'll be getting rid of my Zombie Van any time soon.
